excuse me, miss.
note: i really thought that i posted in the past on the included image before...but i can't find an entry. so, i guess not? (uh oh, i'm crazy!)In other news, I really hate being a caricature of myself! I can't get shit done, unless there is a list from which I can cross off the task. I mean, if there is nothing on the list, things will just not get done. Maybe I'm just neurotic.
Nope. Def. with the neurotix.
There's just a lot of satisfaction in crossing things out, you know? During the summer, when I felt the most scattered, I knew that is was mostly because I wasn't taking the time to just sit down and write out my things-to-do.
I just really hate how I've had to make the time for this kind of self-acceptance: that I am one of those anal people in secret.
No, no. I am anal. OUtwardly.
Sometimes, when I end up doing something that wasn't on my list for the day, i'll write it in, just to cross it off. Because I get that satisfaction from feeling more productive. Even when its false.
And apparently, I am crazy, as well.
Lists I have:
Teach me more, please! How do you use lists?
My most recent mistake...

Plain simple:
While RDJ is in black face, there are several points throughout the film that make the punchline this: the meta-meta of RDJ playing a WHITE MAN (one who overcompensates in being hired for the role of playing a BLACK MAN) is ultimately a crack on white people appropriating Black culture. So, context makes that, in itself, hilarious.
Here is a discussion on the film, where white people are victimizing selves and whining about bullshit. Ahem:

Typical nonsense, the usual double standard. It’s the same thing with black comedians ripping on white people, total acceptable, but lets see a white comedian tear into black people and listen to the out-cry.
Hey there, dumbass. <3
Brandon T. Jackson, who plays "Alpha Chino" serves as a direct foil to a lot of the cultural appropriation happening up in there. It's fairly simple, and I don't think it's "cooning." Robert Downey Jr. is excellent in this movie. Maybe I'm still teetering from his greatbigcomeback in IRONMAN. (gyeah!) Jack Black is Jack Black. Ben Stiller is Ben Stiller. Still a pretty simple fratboy film. Pardon my yawning.

the hypersexualization of children
via!
It's funny that he feels the need to get on his knees whenever she "assumes the position." He is looking a tad overwhelmed. Also, if you look at the back in the beginning (before 20 seconds hit) you see a 10 year dancing all sexy with a 6 year old.
Yikes.

Hey colorful ladies! Make nice with the rest of youse in my collection!
at a point during my childhood, we were poor as hell
Therefore, I really loved being able to afford a new book of paper dolls at the drug store. They usually sold for $1, and I could sprig that much every once in a while. Now, they don't have those at CVS anymore. Am I giving away too much by telling you that I was once poor? (I hope you don't feel that I am romanticizing poverty for sympathy...)
Whatever it is, I still absolutely love paper dolls.

a little late...

via hurr. A nice accompanying visual for this ditty in The Nation.
Also, why is everyone sleeping on Kerry's speech? It was excellent! And SHORT! I didn't like Hilary's so much, but folks are bout'it bout'it. I've only watched the majors (Obama, Michelle, Hils, Bills, Joe.) Recommendations?

The Fall
Q got me to watch this really stunning film. I remember seeing the poster somewhere around the LES, and thinking it looked pretty Dali-esque, but I'd never heard of it. And the young woman who played Alexandria was so adorable and cute (whose eyes are used in the promo poster.) I hope the movies don't change her cuteness into some Hermione story. Attacked by the public! Just really loved her...so adorable with her little broken arm!
Some gorgeous moments, and the cinematography, forget about it! Almost like watching Planet Earth and the plot elements of The Wizard of Oz. Really rich colors, as the director, Tarsem (Singh,) also did the mindfuck that was The Cell, you know, before J-Lo was all invested in becoming a singer and shit. Also stars my boo, Lee Pace, from Pushing Daisies, which my sisters and I kinda sorta watch religiously.
I guess this whole list of media gives away how my sisters and I really love brightly colored, close cut shows.
Ah, well.

The trials of youth!
Terribly fascinating! Just finished watching this docu called Teenage Tourettes Camp. I'm on the borderline, and a little unsure of whether it is exploitative or not. I get it: the goal of documentary is to serve as an unbiased third eye in a situation, but to focus on the squabbles of the young women highlighted proves a bit distracting. This segment is the juiciest. High school, I forget how very self important we are. So please watch as five teens from the UK are followed while in Tourettes Camp; there is an upcoming dance, which means hearts are broken and egos are shattered.
BONUS: And what's a reality show without an angsty FIGHT SCENE! So cute, the little guy in the middle with the breathing action trying to calm folks down. HE HAS SO MUCH HEART!
