My life is a whirlwind and I love it! Though I've been consumed by bad photoshop jobs, I've managed to get my other projects moving along. A couple of thangs to note:

  • Hanalei's Women's Project Site will be a posting space for my workshop participants. I'm hoping that an internet presence will encourage them to write a little more. My women range from beginner to advanced writers. If you have ever been one of my students, I would love to post your work! Old and new pieces are welcome! Please email me at to submit.

  • I am developing a collaborative work with the jesse o! it's gonna be great. don't wanna tell you too much, but prepare to be amazed. Sure, name your first born after either one of us. You'll want to after this project's unveiling.

  • New poem posted! Under my WORK section. And hmmm....should i become a performance artist? Am I one already?

  • OH! Our old collective now has a home.... the 101 Project!!! MEMORIES.

  • I forgot what this other list item was for.... SORRY! But things are always best in fives after threes! so! 5!

summer means that autumn is near....

    Quick Bio

Hanalei Ramos is a very nice person and a stereotypical aquarius. FACT: while it is a common misconception that “aquarius, the water bearer” is a water sign, it is not. It is actually an air sign! Other than that, she is a proud founding member of Filipinas for Rights and Empowerment, a mass-based organization for Filipinas in the NYC area. Hanalei has also toured around the country as a performer and is the author of Foiled Stars, Letters to Martha, and the one-woman show, Guns and Tampons: A History of Violence Against Women I Know. Hanalei currently lives and works in her native Jersey City, NJ. For more information about her, please visit
